Amp Isolation

All,

Another basic question for you: do I need to isolate the amp case from the metal floor?  Seems kind of pointless when the ground wire is attached to the flloor right there too, but thought I would run it by you guys.

yes you should because you can ground out the amp if you do that

Now it depends upon how old the amp is!

The older amps had to be isolated from the chassis for that reason.  The new amps do not need to be, the circuitry is protected.

The amp is a RF Punch 400a4 (year 2000 I think).

Not a problem.  I've installed about a billion of those with no problems.  From about 96 on back is where I would worry about that problem.
