i'm trying to figure out how to remove the front door panels in a '99 F-250 to replace the 6x8 speakers. I've looked around but I don't see any snaps or anything.

Same problem with the cover in the back behind the door to replace the rear speakers.

If it is the same as the F150 for body style you need to find the hidden screws. Pop off the top panel at the rear of the door first. It is above the door panel. Once removed it has a hidden screw behind it. Pop up the power window / lock control and look for a second screw hidden in behind there. IIRC that is all the screws there are and the panel should pop up and off.

after the retaining screws are removed i believe the panel will have to go straight up not directly out towards you. they have slots that it seats in on the shell of the door and if pulled straight off the mount will be broken.

The top half has to come off first.  Take out the visible screws and it'll unsnap.  You may see some screws for the bottom half now- I can't remember.  Now unsnap that armrest piece and look there as well.  It's been a while.
