Model # KDC-X769, has the flip down face that hides when you turn off. Problem is, when I turn it on the face opens all the way, then closes halfway. Same thing when I turn it off, it closes all the way, then opens half way and stays like that. Any ideas on what is causing this?

sounds like it might be binding on the sides. is it mounted in the vehicle when turned it on and off. if so try unmounting it leave it plugged in and turn it on and off if it works fine then you have a mounting issue. also you might want to try resetting it. by unplugging it .

is the display gone? Do the buttons still function? Sounds like it's most likely the ribbon cable between the face and the body. You can pick em up online for about $12 plus shipping, or take it to a Kenwood repair shop and pay them about $120.

I took it out and it still won't work right, also tried resetting it and unplugging it a few days ago. The display works and  all the buttons work. Is the ribbon hard to replace? Also, does this model have a clock? I'm trying to help a friend with it and he doesn't have a manual.
