How important is it that I purchase tinned power wire for my install? I plan on keep the car for quite a while and don't want to have to replace power wire later on. I can get untinned cheaper than tinned and just wondering if this is more hype than truth.

Yes, most manufacturers are calling it tinned from what I am reading. It is meant to stop the oxidization of the copper wire.

Not an expenditure worth making.  Just use a gauge of power and ground wire that is larger than the maximum current capacity of the system.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

What you can do is tin the wire after you make put on your terminals (ring terminals, spades, etc.).  This will keep the corrosion at bay.
