this topic was discussed before but i just wanted to bring up that honda dealerships love to scam ppls money...i have a '02 honda accord coupe...and my dash lights went out after installing my stereo system.....i finally brought my car to the dealership and they charged me $240 for labor (3hrs of work) and $150 for the multiplex control unit....total cost = $422!!!! last time they charged me $80 for the multiplex control unit but warranty covered it...how did the price jump from 80 to 155???!!! what was happening was everytime the harnesses were hooked up it would blow the fuse to the dash lights...this technician was a joke...he did not know what the hell he was doing...he even blew out my multiplex control unit trying to figure out what was wrong....i had the same problem a few months ago after i installed my subs to my factory head unit..i brought it to the dealership and my warranty covered the cost the reason why is b/c they saw my factory head unit so they thought i didnt do any kind of modification.....well this time they figured out that it couldve been my car stereo causing the problem last time b/c they saw my factory wires being spliced (i spliced them b/c i had to hooked up the SNI converter and i had an EQ hooked up as well ...big mistake) so they were saying that i got a free mulitplex control unit last time.. anyways...he had to call tech line to figure out the problem.....

come to find out the dimmer and illumination wires coming from the aftermaket harness were crimped together to the illumination wire from the reciever....the aftermarket harness is connected to the factory harness so the corresponding wires going to the dimmer and illumination wires are positive (illumination) and negative (dimmer)....thus hooking up a postive and negative wire will cause a short....i installed everything myself except for the wiring of the reciever which my friend did!!!

the whole time i was wondering what did i do wrong to cause this problem...hes done a few recievers so i thought he knew what he was doing...and he did the same thing to those other cars and they had no problem (they were not hondas so the wiring is different in the factory harness).....so those of u who might install a reciever in a 6th generation accords never hook those 2 wires up ....and never leave any kind power wire (12v) hanging out b/c it will cause a short if it touches a ground.....

one last thing....it was bad enough for the dealership (Royal Honda on Veterans in Metairie to be exact) to rip me off ...but they also stole my set of allen wrenches and a screwdriver that i always leave in my trunk (in case i need to disconnect wires from my amp) !!!!! i am furious but what can i do?!!! they have sign up that says "not responsible items left in the car"....
