I'm having an issue with an Alpine MRP-F240 amp. Seems to have been working earlier today, but now I'm getting nothing out of it. The power light is on and the fuse is not blown. If I have a short inside would the light and fuse still be good? My rca's are good so that's not the issue. What else can I check? Thanks.

Let me add something. I noticed that two channels had dropped out and then later on two more dropped out.

Sounds to me like your amplifier fits the highly technical descirption "fried."  Is it still under warranty?

Nope, no warranty...3 years old. My thoughts were it's fried, too.

The amp was watching you the entire time, each time that it saw that you were occupied driving, it released a little more of it's magic smoke that made it work. To me as well, it sounds like it has gone to the old amplifiers home in the sky. Too bad as nobody likes to have an amp die on them. On the other hand, woohoo, shopping time for new car gear....
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Before I would send this to amp heaven I would do a simple test. Disconnect all 4 speakers and reconnect one at a time. If the amp comes on for each individual speaker, but shuts off for only one you could have a blown speaker or shorted speaker lead and the amps protection circuit is kicking in. This amp does not shut off the indicator light when it is in protection mode.
There is no such thing as free installation!
