Hi All,

Thanks for your help, This is my second attemp to rewire and setup my car. The first setup wasnt that good, and it was aimed to listen radio basically. I am getting bit more serious now. Here is what I recently purchased.

Kenwood Cd & Mp3 Player, 50WX4, Model KDC-5023

MTX AUDIO 6 1/2``, 2 WAY Full Range Speaker System, 300W RMS, MODEL TXC6.1

MTX AUDIO THUNDER 6`` X 9`` DOME-AXIAL, 3 WAY Full Range Speaker System, 100W RMS, MODEL 6903

MTX AUDIO 12`` SUPERWOOFER, 400 WATTS RMS, MODEL T7512-44 (Dual 4OHM Voice Coil)

MTX AUDIO 12`` SUPERWOOFER, 400 WATTS RMS, MODEL T7512-04 (Single 4OHM Voice Coil)

As you can see, I am missing the amplifier/s, this is to be purchased soon, however, I havent finalised my decision yet. I have few questions with my setup, Many thanks for your help again.

Question 1) Can I wire these 2 woofers together? I am bit confused due to difference in voice coil (one is single and another is dual). If it is possible to wire together, would be better of wiring together, or keeping it separate in boxes? How do I wire it together and what ohm should I set up to?

Question 2) This is the first time I am using crossovers (which come with front component speakers), although I have done my research to understand what it does, I am bit confused in terms of wiring it through amplifier. The crossover has 8 input/output outlets. (TW- TW+ WF- WF+ INTW- INWF- INTW+ INWF+). TW- TW+ is for tweeter, WF- WF+ is for the speaker, INTW- INWF- INTW+ INWF+ is for amp/s, depending on single or biamp configuration, outlets have jumpers. The point I dont understand here is where is the front-right (+/-) cables from headunit connected to? To amplifier RCA inlets? If yes this means that I cant power; subs and front component speakers from 1 multi channel amplifier, is this correct?

Question 3) I have never worked with an amplifier more than 2 channels. Can I wire subs and front speakers through a single amplifier? My answer to this question would be NO, however not sure. I am confused because I just cant imagine the wiring of different headunit speakers cables to a single amplifier, and then how will that be separated?

Questions 4) I cant seem to be able decide on amplifier, I want to go with MTX and stick to one brand. However, not sure how many amps and channels they should be. I was planning to have a 2channel amp for subs, and another 2channel amp to power the front components. Also I was going to run 6x9 from the deadunit. Is this makes sense? any suggestions.

Thanks for your time, your help is much appriciated, I have used the search function however, it just confused me more, I think trying to learn too much in such a short time. I am trying to get this ready for Autosalon show which is starting next Friday.

Regards

Max Ungun

PS: I have bought a capasitor and 4ga wiring and few other bits and pieces, all from Stinger

1.  No, don't use these incompatible subs together.  You might consider using them one-at-a-time in the same way I was led to do after making a bonehead fleabay purchase a couple years ago:  using a mono sub amp, change the subs out from time to time to put different loads on the amp.  2 ohm or 4 ohm.

Or just keep the one that works best with whatever amp you finally get.  Either sub would work with a mono amp, the SVC works best with a two-channel amp (in this case).

2.  You use more amplifier channels when you bi-amp, as the tweets take two channels and the mids take two channels.  You would have to use a 5- or 6-channel amp to be able to also power a sub in this case.  I suggest that you don't need to go the bi-amping route with this setup.  You can buy a 4 channel amp and power the SVC 4 ohm sub and front components with it.

If it were me, though, I would power the fronts and rears with a 4 channel amp and use a mono amp for the sub...depending on power output of the mono amp you could use either of the two subs.  You'll most likely get a bit of better quality if you load the mono amp at 4 ohms.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
