I am trying to install an alpine head unit in my 97 explorer sport.  I hooked up the harnesses that were pluged into the radio to the wire harnesses that I bought.  The radio turns on but no sound comes out of the speakers.  I noticed that the wire that end up at the speakers are a different color than the wires that plug into the head unit.  is there a module that I must bypass in order to make the speakers work? Do I have the wrong harness?  Must i wire the speakrs directly to the head unit?

you probably have the nicer JBL sound system.  All you need to do is to hook the remote turn on lead into the harness from the radio.  That way the factory amp will come on and you will hear sound.   Good luck  Brian
