hey guys, I have a JL 300/4 amp powering 4 JL XR speakers. I don't have the setup bridged at all so the speakers are running at 4 ohms. I know that amp has a 1.5 ohm stable so I don't think there should be a problem. but the speakers started sounding awful yesterday so i decided to go and tune the amp a little better, I realized that if i put the volume up the Low Impedence light will blink when bass hits, the volume isnt too loud its actually set at a pretty decent level when the light blinks. Does anyone know what i could try. I didnt really mess with the frequency on the amp because the speakers have crossovers. And i didn't check for any shorts but i'm thinking if there are shorts the light would always be on. Well any feedback would help. Thanks A lot.

You say "the speakers started sounding awful yesterday."  Was everything OK before this?  If so, I bet you have blown one or more speakers, probably because your gain is too high and the amplifier has been clipping, or because you need to engage the HP filter to protect the speakers and you have been driving them beyond their mechanical limits.  I suggest disconnecting all four speakers at the amp and then re-connecting them one at a time to see which one might be causing the problem.  You will probably have to replace that (or those) speakers.  Also, it is possible the amp has died, so if it seems to do the same thing with any of your speakers, before you replace all four I'd suggest taking the amp in to your JL dealer and have it tested.

I would do what DYohn said about going to the JL dealer. I sell JL at my store and every once in a while we get an amp that is doing what  your saying and something has happend to the amp. But definatly check all other possible problems.
