fused after dist. block?

I am running 0 gauge in a car that the customers has supplied the install parts he wanted used. The distribution block does not have any fuses, I have always used fused ones for safety reasons. When he ordered this stuff another shop told him it was a waste of money to get a block with fuses in it, so now he has decided to come to me to get it installed and my question is:  Am I right in saying fuses are a must or is it overkill?

Cool that was exactly what I was thinking, I will stick to my guns on it. Its amazing what some shops will do to cut corners and save a few bucks. Thanx for the refresher.

I used 2 agu fuse holders after the block within 4" so its protected. It works but I prefer the fused distro. blocks. I have learned from this to have customers drop off all install parts if they have to have a brand I don't carry. This way I can determine what I still need to do a proper install. I am sure some of you already know this, but I am still learning. I'll always be "still learning" .
