I was allways tought that THD was the key to a good sound quilaty amp..And i have read "How to buy an amp"

And now I don't understand....It seems that all anyone looks at now is S/N ratio and fuse size?

Has THD gone by the way side when it comes to Quility? And what facts sould i look for in a Sound Quility Amp?

Please help me to understand the facts,Derek

fuse size primarily denotes "true output"  if an amp claims to be a 1500 watt amp and it has a 15 amp fuse at it's input stage it's actually about a 150 watt amp... beware of manufacturers who dont adhere to the CEA-2006 output specifications standard.....

THD is still an indicator of the inherent quality of the unit, while not necessarily relating to the output... i used to have a couple of Nak PA-300's (i think, this goes back years)  that were clean as hell and i could run them right to the end without any real noticeable distortion, but you could still talk to someone sitting across the car from you... they were very clean, just not a very ballsy product... it's nice to use a variety of specs to make a short list when choosing a product... (i dont really recommend shopping by "specs" myself) but it's better to take a few discs and make the rounds actually auditioning products....
