I found that I have a short in the wiring harness on my 2002 Expedition Eddie Bauer edition with 6 CD changer.

I have searched this and other forums for a wiring harness diagram with no success. Does anyone here have the pinout of the OEM plug? I want to bypass the +12v constant to see if thats the only short in the harness.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is highly unlikely that the radio plug or the radio are your problem. It is more likely a problem with a cigarette lighter, power outlet or something you added to your vehicle I am not sure of the color of the wire but I can tell you that constant and switched wires are the 2 wires closest to the edge of the radio. I don't remember if they are top or bottom row they are on the row that the pins are offset a little. Use a meter to find out which one is constant but I really don't think this is your problem.

I have not modified or added anything .

One day the radio just quit. I changed the 25a fuse that had blown. It blew within 1/2 second

Then I removed the radio and found that the insulation on about three of the wires was scraped off probably by rubbing against a sharp metal bracket behind the unit. I taped over each indivual scraped wire and the offending metal and tried again. No Joy. Then I disconnected the radio altogether and tried again. Still no joy.Even with the radio unplugged the fuse still blows. According to the owners manual that is the primary feed for the radio only.

You can either keep tracing the wiring for the short, or run a new lead from the ignition harness. Use a multimeter to test the wiring, and be sure to use a fuse.

The 25a fuse is probably for the speaker/sub amp and not the radio itself. The radio fuse is usually lower, but for a ford 25a is usually for the amp. I believe in an '02 the amp is right below the radio, and a bitch to get to if the speaker amp is the problem. If it's the sub amp then it's in the rear pass side. Try finding and unplugging those to see if it makes a difference.
