Hi there. I just installed this unit. I am using the same speaker/amp configuation as the previous head unit. I did not experience any static noise with it.

This is what it is doing:

with the engine not running or running is the same.

turning the volume up hides the noise.

the noise is crispy static and what appears to sound like a beep or touch tone every 5 seconds or so. The beep is more noticed when the video is viewed.

Low volume as in able to talk to passenger and hear music and static and beep.

Is driving me nuts. Any suggestions? Thanks, Troy.

Sounds like a defective unit.  Not surprised since Dual is really low-quality.  Take it back.

On the behalf of Dual, yes it is about the lowest quality deck out there.....but....if you look at the features it has and the video quality is not bad. And the sound flat rocks. I dont know how long the motor will last or other but overall it isnt that bad. The thing that is killing me is the low level "beep"........It has something to do with the display........
