hi,
sorry, i know this question has been asked before, however the answers given didn't really answer it.
i've drafted this several times now because its quite difficult to explain, but i'll give it another go.
i have a 1998 Vauxhall Corsa B, 5 door, which has a single DIN slot. At the moment, I have a Sony XR-C33R tape deck with a 10-CD changer in the boot. the RCA signal from the changer is shared (via a 3-way RCA switcher) with an Apple powerbook under the passenger seat. in addition to this, there's a Blaupunkt 600w amp in the boot/trunk, powering two 360w Alpine 6x9's which are mounted in a stealth parcel shelf (you know, to hide them).
What I now want to do is install a motorised flip-up 7 inch monitor, which i intend to get cheaply from ebay- the kind with no built in amp, dvd or cd player, just the screen with an RCA input, so i can use the screen on the laptop- at the moment i'm using Salling Clicker (a piece of software) to control iTunes via Bluetooth, but i want to be able to use the visualiser, amongst other things, maybe even add a Sega Mega Drive for novelty value.
However, as I mentioned, the monitor would be a cheap one, and so provide no sound whatsoever, and the head unit is already doing such a great job of dealing with that side of things, it would be far cheaper to keep it rather than buy a more expensive branded head unit with a monitor and 4x45w amp, especially as i'd then have to buy another CD changer as mine is quite old and the bus cable is different now.
So, I want to move the stereo to the glove compartment and replace it with the flip up monitor, this is the one i had in mind. as it says in the description, it consumes 8W.
Please could someone tell me if it would be possible to wire up the monitor, sharing all the existing ISO connections listed here? I feel its worth mentioning that my head unit didn't include an amp remote pin, and the power antenna remote only worked when the radio was on, so i had to wire the amp in the boot to the 12v switchable. Would this cause excessive or uneven drain across the three pieces of equipment?
Also, has anyone tried mounting a detachable head unit fascia in a location other than on the head unit, like the sun visor? I'll need a new project after this one to keep myself busy!
I would greatly appreciate your help, and I'm sorry my first post couldnt have been a more succinct one!
Thanks,
Neema

eBay links don't work here... It is the forum rules. Otherwise, working on an answer to to your questions.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
