hey there guys this is my first time posting on here

ive been looking around for a while and have learned alot

im getting ready for a  project im going to start on this summer with a buddy

i will be working on a 93 nissan 240sx se coupe

i am planning on 3 amps in the car

(jl audio 1000/1, 500/1, 450/4)

the 1000/1 will run 2 12W7-3 s in paralell, the 500/1 will run 2 8W7-3 s in paralell, and the 450/4 will run my front channels

i am concerned with what i will need to do for power

ive looked at the recommended fuse ratings for all three and when added up comes to 210A

i was planning on running a 1/0 power wire from the battery back to the trunk and then into a distrubution block and split it to 3 4AWG wires

would 1 200A ANL fuse be acceptable and where should i place it, close to the battery or the distro block
would i need to fuse each amp serperatly after the distro block
also, will a cap be needed and if so how many ferads and where in the circuit do i put it
one more question, is it better to run my 3 4AWG grounds from my amps to a distro block then run 1 1/0 ground wire to the fame
(all of the amps will be in very close proximemity to each other in the trunk)
will i need a high draw alternator and an extra battery?
any help or input is greatly apperciated.

Your best solution would be a high-output alternator.  As far as grounds, I am not a fan of ground distru blocks and recommend direct grounding of all amps to as close to the same spot as possible.  Be sure you use the same gauge wire for your ground as you do your power, and you should also upgrade your Big 3 to 1/0.  Ground to bare metal and measure the ground return resistance to ensure it is as low as possible (preferrably less than one ohm.)

alright thanks for that info but where would i get a high output alternator and how many amps will it need to put out, also what kind of battery do i need to use with it

would it be possible to get some input on the rest of the issues to if its not to much trouble

thanks again

The best thing I can say is check on the internet you'll find something on there for a H/O alternator and you should check the latest Car Audio and Electronics magazine or their website as they just had a walk through with that. The best battery I would say personally would be the Optima Yellow top but there are so many sealed dry cell batteries that are made specifically for car audio aplicttions like from Batcap or Stinger to name a few. Another thing they did in the magazine is a walk through on how to install a dual alternator which would run your factory alternator to run your accesories and the second to run your audio only. Don't forget that if you run a dual battery you will need to run an isolator. I hope that helped you a bit

yeah it did

thanks alot

but im still alittle confused about wht specs i need to be looking for in regards to the alternator as well as fuse a capacitor placement in the overall wiring scheme

that article would be useful but i cant find anyone taht makes a high output alternator for my car.

anyone got any ideas?

a cap is not needed and is a waste of money...it will do nothing for those amps
try to get a 200 amp alternator that puts out a lot at idle...try iraggi, alterstart, I dunno any others at the moment

Why do you need this much equipment in your car. If you want serious bass, it can be done with a lot less power.
