This is on a 2000 Chevy Cavalier Z24

I removed the stock readio and  just installed a Pioneer DEH-P8400MP and now my car will not start and the radio is not turning on. When I turn the key the car acts like the battery is dead but I tested it and it measuered a healthy 12V. I can hear clicking under the driver side dash and the starter clicking but nothing happens then. Any ideas on why this is happening. I did run a IGN/ACC wire becuase the car had none and also let the car sit without power for 15 minutes (was told that would reset the computer)

Thanks

did u try jumping the battery???

also, some cavaliers  have to have the radio relocated and keept in the car!  try hooking the factory back up and see what happens!

I am not positive if the 2000s were where it started, but I know that the 2002s will not operate without the factory headunit...you have to buy a harness patch and re-locate the factory head unit to the trunk...the factory head unit somehow interfaces with the cars computer and wont allow it to run if the head unit is not present...
maybe one of the alarm gurus can substantiate my theory here...

You will nee to purchase the relocation harness for the '00-'02 GM vehicle which will require you to put the factory radio in the trunk and use your aftermarket unit up front. After installing this harness be sure to always leave the factory radio on.

Well, after reserchignt this and talking with some people on www.jbody.org I went to a local car audio store here and town and they sold me a wiring harness with the awful looking black box on it. They told me to hook this pup up and it should work. I hooked it up and low and behold the car trys to start. My battery is dead so I'm going to jump it and drive around alittle. Hope it works.

Thanks for the help.
