Hey.

so I was programming my viper 5900.  i turned the ignition key to the on position, then off position and pressed the valet button until it chirped once.  i then let go and the alarm sounded for 1 second and then cut itself off.

What does this mean?  what did i program to the system?  did i mess it up?

thanks

Assuming your door trigger is working properly, and the door was open at the time, that alarm sound probably meant:
1. You had selected the menu you wanted and could press the valet switch to select the particular feature you wanted to change, or
2. The learn routine had timed out(if it was 15 seconds or more).
If you didn't press any buttons on the remote, there's no possibility that you changed anything, and you definitely didn't mess anything up just by doing what you said there.
