Hi everyone, I just installed a alarm/remote start Clifford 3.3X on my 2008 Tacoma(4.0 V6, auto).
My questions are about the transponder module XK05, and tach wire.
Where do i have to connect the tach wire, what connector(location), and color of the wire.
And second question is about the location of ECM connector.I looked behind the glove compartment, but i couldn't figure which plug I was looking for.So if you could give more detail about identifying this connector, and the required wires(IMI, IMO) that would be great.
And one more thing, the blue wire(Ignition In), has to be connected to a wire that is powered(+) when the engine is running?
Thank you, Calin.

You can use a coil or injector to run the tach wire.
The ign wire will have 12v when the key is on and while the engine is cranking. It shouldn't have power when the key is on Accessory.

XK module has pin and colour description, follow them.
Don't forget to disconnrct battery first.
ECU is behind glove compartment, to the right, placed vertically approx. 10 cm from the apron. Size of ECU is approx. 20 cm. in hight and 3 cm in width
Based on my 4runner info it has 5 sockets (plugs) (one is empty).
Plugs are numbered from top to down. Each plug has about 20-30 coloured wires. Plug plastic's colour is white.
You should connect tach wire to the bottom plug of your ECU.
Tach wire is black, as I remember the right row, fifths from the top.
IMO and IMI colours and plug # are excplained in your XK manual

How do you test your wires with the battery disconnected?

Locks won't work, parking lights won't work.... nothing will work.

Do you not test every wire?    you can find a tach reading @ the blk/wht on the OBD2 plug.

Tach: one of the corner wires at the OBDII diagnostic plug under the driver's dash.
The bottom-right corner (depending if Toyota mounted the plug right-side-up or not) is constant 12 volts. Tach is on the other side of the plug.
As for the ECM wires, I would return the XK05 and get the much better KEY-OVERRIDE-SL2 from Fortin. Much more installer-friendly design.

I Second that....We are DEI dealers but use Fortin modules as the bypasses.  Makes is much easier.

The question refers to connecting XK05, at least three wires at ECU. There are even four wires, including Tach, if you want to place XK05 somewere near ECU. In that case it's beter to find tach wire at ECU, than to lead it to other side of a cabin to OBD.
It's better to disconnect battery for soldering ECU wires, than not to do it. But it's up to you, if you are able to solder "hot" internal databus wires, why not.
XK doesn't doorlocks and parking lamp, no need to probe and find them.
For RS they are required, for testing wires battery definetely should be connected

You may want to peruse my write-up of the same truck which I did several months ago.
Also I'll agree that the XK05 sucks when installing on a Toyota. Directed came out with a new data override for Toyotas and Fords a few months ago(which connected to the wires at the immobilizer ring) but I can't find it on their site for the life of me.
Regardless, if you decide to use the XK05 you'll have to extend 3 or 4 wires because they make the dang harness too short. If you mount it under the passenger side, the ignition, 12v constant, ground, and GWR need lengthened.
If you mount it towards the driver's side the IMO and IMI in/out need lengthened, and possibly the security light wire.
