I've had an astrostart in this trunck since new with no issues until recently. When I attempt a remote start the power seems to come on (fan runs, can hear the fuel pressure up etc.) but it will not crank right away. After about 1 or 2 minutes it will start to crank but immediately quit before starting. I get the 12 flashes which is apparantly overspeed. Any insight appreciated.

i would suspect either a bypass issue or a tch issue.... relearn tach and verify the operation on the PL II bypass module.....

Thanks, I re learned the tach and now the truck cranks and starts without the delay. It only runs for a about 10 seconds and shots off, then restarts for 10 shuts off.... How do I verify the bypass module?

Thanks again

What model Astro? and what type of bypass?

Make sure the bypass is getting 12volt's, and the groung while running is providing a ground. You are having a bypass issue.

Have you recently replaced the trucks battery, or had any service work done to it?

Did you do the install or was it done by an authorized dealer... ? If it was I would enlist their help!

It's either an 1100 or 2100 with an astroflex bypass with dip switches. The only recent work done was on the front end. I never had the battery disconnected. The only electrical I unplugged was the 4X4 acutator on the front axle. I had it installed at a dealer but they told me they dropped the Astro line and quoted me $150 plus labour. Seemed a little steep so I thought I'd take a stab at it. I've installed a few staters before but none that had a bypass. If I program to keep ignition on between start attempts it will stay running but the stater tries to engage again anyway. I'll check the power and ground to the bypass. Thanks

So, because THEY don't sell it any more THEY want to charge you, even though THEY put it in?

That just seems wrong to me. Stealerships.... I hate em.

I did replace the bypass module and the remote start is working normally now. The check engine light is on now though which I'm not sure if that is related.

Thanks for the help
