I picked up a new in box Surestart LX at a garage sale.  The installation instructions are like any other remote starter i have installed...EXCEPT...the Surestart LX requries you to CUT the STARTER WIRE in half......Are they NUTS?  HOw do you start the car if the SURESTART goes dead?  HELP please with comments  thanks APPLEO

Verbatim from the Manual

Locate the vehicle starter wire.

Verification: This wire registers voltage only when the key is turned to the START

position.

Cut the vehicle starter wire in half.

Verification after starter wire is cut:

• KEY SIDE of starter wire registers voltage when the key is turned to the START

position.

• MOTOR SIDE of starter wire registers no voltage.

Connect T2 WHITE/ RED wire to the KEY SIDE of the vehicle starter wire at the

ignition switch harness.

Connect T3 WHITE wire to the MOTOR SIDE of the vehicle starter wire.

thats not that odd. its for antigrind. it connects the wires back together inside the unit. so if it ever goes bad the wire still make a complete circuit thru the unit and you can start the car. if your not comfortable with that, just hook up the one starter wire from the unit that has voltage output on it (T3 white wire) and hook it up to your starter wire in the car without cutting it in half. just insulate and dont use the other wire. lots of remote starters are this way now.
