1999 saab 9 3, remote start

I am doing a remote start in this vehicle and have everything wired and soldered up. The car will do remote take over and will start if you place the transponder pill by the key cylinder. But for the life of me I can not get the 556u to work with this vehicle. Has anybody done a 99-02 Saab and got it to work with a transponder bypass? I tried using the ring and stuffing it as close as possible with no luck. Tried putting it on top of the lock cylinder and didn't work. If you have done one of these you will surely remember the key cylinder in the center console with the transponder ring integrated into the lock cylinder bezel. Now this bezel has 3 wires coming out of it. I figured well what can it hurt lets drill out the 4 plastic welds and open her up. So I did that and sure enough there's the 2 wire antenna and a small circuit board it is connected to. So what I did was de-solder one side of the antenna and tried both ways to hard wire the connection to the 556u unit. Both ways were of no success. The pill was in the 556u the correct way. It was removed from the key because the key is to big. For the time being I just tapped the pill to the transponder ring and shoved it down in the center console. But on really cold mornings it is not working and acting up. That would be no problem if it was in the 556u. I would just heat the pill on remote start.. But I need this way to work with the key also. So I need the 556u to work. Any help to either boost the signal or an alternative way to hard wire the connection to the antenna would be much appreciated. Sorry for the book... Thanks!! Adam

You should have read the 556U instructions with regard to European cars, i.e. don't use the provided antenna ring, cut and join the wires from the factory antenna ring. This method is spot on or BMW, VW/Audi and all cars with similar EWS low powered transponder antennae. Saab is actually a Vauxhall/Opel Vectra and uses the same immobiliser. 

I did try that, and it did not work. I tapped into the antenna that is integrated into the bezel that goes around the key cylinder. I am going to try and take the antenna wire from the 556u and wrap it directly around the antenna on the car. See if that will work, also directly wrap the immobilize pill.
