I searched and couldnt find this issue anywhere. I have a 2004 toyota 4 runner with a 3000CM (2W900FMR) alarm/starter. The problem is that when the temperature drops below freezing, the truck will not unlock if i use the compustar remote. The remote shows that the door unlocks but it never does. now if i use the factory remote, it unlocks, which tells me its not the unlock motor. Now the compustar remote WILL lock the doors even when the tempurature is freezing, its just the unlock that doesnt work. Also , if i remote start the truck when the temperature is freezing, it sets the alram off. I'm not sure if my installer used the second disarm wire to tap into the factory alarm...or is unlocking the doors when remote starting, therefore causing the alram to go off since the doors never unlock when freezing.

I dont want to go back to my original unstallers b/c i dont have great faith in them anymore (i've had 3 cars in total done by them, and i've had issue with 2 of them) So I wanted to possibly find an answer before I have to go to another installer and pay for the labor.

It sounds like a faulty connection or relay(on-board) for the door un-lock circuit, which is also controlling the dis-arm wire.

So even though the unlock works perfect as soon as the temperature rises you still think its a faulty onboard relay?  I first though about it being a faulty connection, but since it unlocks without fail everytime the temperature went abouve freezing, I didnt think it was a connection...but maybe i'm wrong.

Temperature variations cause most materials to shrink/expand. This can lead to a faulty connection, if not soldered properly. Low quality relays can also become faulty under these conditions, especially when extreme. It could also be a faulty module(component or solder joint). Your best diagnosis is testing.

All Compustar CPU's come with a lifetime warranty. You will have to bring it back to the place that you got it installed and get them to look into for you. If it's the CPU there should be no charge, unless the shop charges to removal and install after a certain period of time.

I agree with you, that under normal circumstances I'd bring it back to the place that intalled it. Problem with that is that I just dont trust them anymore more. They've installed a total of 3 compustar alarms in 4 of my diffrent cars/trucks. After seeing that one of their installs literally almost burned my car to the ground, and 2 of the other installs werent working correct, I took it upon myself to buy a new compustar alarm and install it my self into the car that they almost burned( it was a manual car also) Since my install its been working great

So now i have to figure out if its worth paying another shop to figure out this new problem in my truck, or just buy a new compustar alarm and replace the brain and antenna, and i's basically have a brand new remote also incase one of my other 4 go bad. I was hoping maybe someone has had this happen to their alarm before so that i can figure out the best method to take.

As stated above, you best bet is to diagnose it. When it acts up, pull out your DMM and test the circuit.

Yeah..your right I gues si have to bite the bullet and do the testing myself....it sucks ...wish the problem would happen when it was 85 and sunny and not when it was freezing and when you cant feel your fingers.
