Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum.  What a great resource you have here!  Found it while searching for information on how to connect a Viper 211HV keyless entry kit.  I contacted Viper and they will not give me any information because I'm not a certified installer.  Oh well...

Anyway, I'm working on adding a pair of door lock actuators to an old '66 Mustang using the Viper 211 HV to control them.  I'm familiar with automotive electrical systems and wiring, but not with the security/entry system part.   The actuators each have a green and blue wire on them.  I assume one makes the actuator lock and the other makes the actuator unlock.  I do not want to connect any of the extra periferal items like the dome lights, horn honk, parking lights, etc., just have the system operate the door locks. 

I think I have it straight in my head, but I wanted to bounce it off of you to make sure.  I am planning on connecting the red H1/1 constant power input to an unswitched power source, the black H1/11 to a good chassis ground, the violet/black H1/7 and violet H1/9 to an unswitched power source, (maybe the same as the red?), the GREEN/ black H1/5 and blue/black H1/8 to the actuator green and blue wires.  Do I need to connect the yellow H1/15 to a switched ignition source as noted in the installation guide?  There is no alarm system to trigger when just operating the door locks or is it needed for the internal function of the control module? 

Any comments or advise would be greatly appreciated. 

Lastly, does anyone know what the amp draw of one of these actators might be?   I want to make sure I am using a properly sized circuit for them.

sounds right, although i'm not familiar with the exact model but i install dei all day long, yes you should connect the yellow to an ignition switched wire so you can have ignition controlled door locks, and also i believe your power lock harness will have  BROWN / black & WHITE/ black wires present, connect the two as a pair and take it to a good ground or chasis as you said, actuators on an average each may draw about five to seven amps or so.

Great.  Thanks T&T Tech.  One question though, what is the need to ground the BROWN / black &WHITE/ black 87a normally closed wires?

As t&t tech stated, they provide the common GROUND legs, for the circuit.
Ideal - cmon dude, add to topics in a useful manner, not stuff that is obvious.
