I am a rookie rem start installer. I have never worked on a vehicle using a mux wiring system. I am installing an Autopage RS-665 and an idatalink Ads-al ca on an 08 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel. All alarm features work great, however....

my 1st problem is hooking up the 665. Most of the typical wires (i.e. acc 1, ign 1, acc 2, starter, etc.) do not exist. so, getting the 665 to even begin the crank sequence is not happening. I just don't have enough expertise to troubleshoot this install. I did take some 8 ga. wire and ran it from the battery for my constant power, due to the smallness of the wires in the ignition harness. I know I haven't provided very much info here. I was just wondering if there's any info on what to do with some of these wires on the rem start unit.

also, I've had alot of trouble with these idatalink modules and the weblink updater. i've tried 4 cables and 2 modules and cannot get any computer to recognize the module. Anyone else having problems with these units?

Well, i have the idatalink wire in properly... at least as far as the manual says. As far as the 665, I have the 12volt and ground wires connected. what, on the 665 has to be connected in order for it to send a command to start?

the ignition wire is hooked into the idatalink. the ign 2 wire is hooked to the pink/white wire in vehicle. the starter wire and acc wire  are not connected. the starter wire on this vehicle is the same as the accessory wire, which is the mux wire. but, when i test the mux wire, it doesn't give 12 volts at any time, like an acc or starter wire would. I don't know why, but i cannot figure this one out.

i did an autopage the other day for the first time so im not very knowledgeable on that but the one i installed needed to have the tach or voltage learned before it would even try to activate the remote start
the mux wire works by sending a ground through resistors. one resistor value will activate the acc circuit and another resistor value will activate the 2nd starter. does your bypass just take care of the antitheft or does it hook to the mux wire also to take care of the acc and 2nd starter also. if not then you will probably need to do this but you might need different resistor values for your truck. dont sweat it that this truck id giving you problems, it is a real PITA vehicle to do remote start on so just take your time and do it right. i will try to check make sure those resistor values are right for your truck.

bro, thanks sooo much for the help! you're a lifesaver for sure! i will print all this stuff out for tomorrow. being that the weblink updater was bad and i just got a new one in, i have to get back on this install in the morning.
yeah, i've done a few rem starts, but this one has been the worst thing i've ever encountered in my limited span of time doing them.
thanks again. you've definitely made a new dedicated "the12volt" member outta me!

pretty much the same stuff as my 06 and I'm having same troubles.  The audiovox paper that soundnsecurity posted is different than what I have seen so if all els fails, I may have to try that.
