Hi, My installer installed a Avital alarm #DEI-5303L with a xk01 module for the remote start and door locks. After install was complete everything seemed to work fine. The customer called me 2 days later and stated that there battery was dead both mornings after the install. Also the door unlock function wasn't working properly. We would have to hit unlock on the remote 3 to 4 times to get the vehicle to unlock and sometimes the factory alarm would go off.
I had my customer drop the car off the next week so we could try and identify the problem. We pulled the alarm fuses and the draw went away. My installer tried to convince me that the alarm itself was bad and I needed to warranty it. I did and found no difference. After more diagnostics we found that the xk01 seems to be causing the draw. I removed the xk01 module and the draw seemed to go away but of course without it there is no doorlock function or remote start.
Question is should I just order in a new module or is it most likely an install issue? I also read somewhere that some of these modules may be outdated and not have updated firmware? Are there any common problems with these modules? The tech told me that these modules come preloaded with the info needed for the 04 Suburban, Is this correct? any wiring info for this module and alarm on this vehicle?
Thanks for any help guys, I'm just getting into this business and have a long way to go to fully understand alarms.

Never had this issue...Is it correctly programmed.(meaning using type 4 connections...etc...)..?   Did you use W2w or D2D connections...?

Ensure that you have a secure connection on that data wire (believe its the purple wire from the xk01) I had issues before that were similar. Also, if your running d2d you way wanna switch and wire them w2w. agrees with tommy to on getting an update.
