installed a viper 791. tech sheet said to use programmable wait-to-start (10, 15, or 20seconds).
customer is having issues with it not starting on the first or seconds attempt.
why cannot go to the glowplug light in the dash to use for my wait-to-start? i got it programmed to the lowest setting which is 15seconds...should i maybe snag a bitwriter to get it down to 10seconds?
he also says that when it does remote start that it idles at like 1000-1200rpms but when he presses the brake to disengage the r/s it idles back down. i solder all my wires (including tach).

you cant use the glow plug light in the dash because the light is done by data. if the customer is having a hard time getting the truck to start at 15 seconds, you dont want to go to 10, you want to go to the next highest setting, 20seconds. this will allow the glow plugs more time to get hot enough for a start.

yes eventually, but it is more likely to result in an engine start that way rather than going the other way, or just leaving it at 15 seconds.

It's not even cold outside yet, sounds like there's other issues other than the glow plug timer.

got tach from GREEN / WHITE wire in 5pin harness that was taped up behind parkbrake release.
he's got a EDGE programmer in there also, that wouldnt have anything to do with the issues at hand would it?

Use the alternator sense wire on that truck instead as I've had problems using that GREEN / WHITE wire under the dash in the past.
