I purchased a 90 maxima a while back and have discovered that it has an Avistart 4000 installed. I didn't get a remote, so we purchased one on ebay, the avital replacement 820031, 433mhz, listed as a replacement for the 4000, but it won't program. My 4000 has the old toggle switch valet, not the push button. Following instructions elsewhere, I can confirm it's operating, it will give confirmation chirps to the different programmable settings via the switch, but it won't take the remote.

Can someone give me the correct remote part number or a known source for one?

Thanks

Can you post a picture of the brain? That unit is probably from when Avital was not owned by DEI. I may have a remote laying around here but would like to see the brain first.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

Here's a pic of the front and back. Sorry for the crappy pics, it's dark and with my phone. It doesn't have DEI's name on it anywhere..

That unit is back from before DEI acquired Clifford/Avital. I had a 6500 and a 6501 at one point. Great units for their time.
Those remotes are going to be extremely hard to find. I looked into it about 6 years ago without any luck. At one point DEI sold a replacement remote that worked but looked a little different than the original remote. It was more shaped like a finger.
The original remote looks like this:

I had an old one sitting in my toolbox that I sold about a year ago.
You may want to google "FCC ID I5M5659" for other results.
The modern DEI remotes will not work. Apparently DEI brought back the model number Avistart 4000 but the parts are not compatible,
