i just purchased a 94 eagle talon DL. i was in the process of going to install my alarm system in to it, and i came across something i have never seen before. it has 3 wires that connect into the car. One is a ground. one goes straight to the ignition, and one goes into the black wire in the ignition harness. Im not sure what that wire is. If anybody has any idea on what this thing may be, im dieing for an answer

Actually, there are too many wires for a tracker. Unless it's a CAN sniffing device, there are normally three, 12v+constant ignition sense and ground. Most immobilisers use 8, 2 x grounds, 12v+constant, ignition and 2 circuit cuts. I'l run with the tracker although it's rather small and where are the antennae?

well the way it was wired to the relay, there was only 3 wire connection into the car. and i wa told the round thing, is the antenna, i cracked it open, and its just a big cirular pattern of copper wire, soldered to the end of the 2 wires that ran into it.

Still can't make up my mind whether you're describing a tracker antenna or an RFI proximity touch key! If there was relay involved, it could have been a tracker plus immobiliser as already stated.

With antenna shielded by the body, it's probably a RFID etc.
But the why the mechanical key - is that the "key" for the RFID.
But if it's too easy so get to, it's easy to defeat.
Some car-yard enabler makes sense in case someone has duplicated the vehicle's key.
Though maybe it is for echelon targeting?

Shush don't mention Echelon! Signed paranoia Howard. Let's face it they can probably tag you from the individual EMF signal given off by your engine management!
