I will be installing an Ultra Start 1272 Pro for a friend on a 2004 Hyundai Sonata 6cyl. It has the factory alarm, I just want to make sure that the Ultra Start Lock and Unlock will take care of Disarming and Arming the factory alarm system. Anyone know?
I'm thinking all i have to connect is the ignition harness wires, ground, parking lights, horn, brake, hood pin, tach, unlock and lock. That sound about right? I shouldn't have to make any connection to the keysense wire? After the install, he shouldn't need the old keyfob for anything? Thank you very much.

According to Directechs, the alarm functions with the factory remotes only. If you don't use them it won't arm, so no disarming is needed.  They do however state that keysense is needed to disarm without unlock, so you might want to connect it to the status wire just incase it gets armed...

Interesting, I spoke to the guy who I buy the Ultra Start from and he said Hyundai Lock and Unlock take care of the arm and disarm.
Which wire is the status wire on the Ultra Start?

I'm just doin my homework on this install, was planning to do it this weekend but.....
Directed site shows
Battery - Red
Ignition 1 - Pink
Starter 1 - Yellow
Accessory 1- Orange

Bulldog shows:
Battery Red
Ignition 1 Pink
Ignition 2 Orange
Starter Yellow
Accessory Brown
Which is it? I know I'm going to test but would be much easier if they both agreed on the color wire

On the Ultra Start 1272 there is a 3 Pin connector.  The wire colors are Red, Black and WHITE/ Violet.  The WHITE/ Violet is the Status Out or Ground When Running wire typically used for the bypass module.
Soldering is fun!

Just so anyone looking at this thread for an answer knows how it turned out. I ended up using the Directed wiring, after testing the wires, this one proved to be right.
Only thing My friend wants now is to work his trunk with the ultra start remote. There are a few trunk wires, trunk pin, trunk release etc.
I'm thinking I have to use the
TRUNK RELEASE      GREEN (-)      @ 12-PIN PLUG, PIN 5, @ ETACM
But for now his car is back together and starting remotely. Not a bad install

Yep. Connect the U1272 RED / White AUX2 wire to the Sonata (-)Trunk Release.  The default setting is for Trunk Release by holding the Unlock button for 3 seconds. ( It will also Disarm and unlock the doors. )
Soldering is fun!
