Putting a remote start/alarm in a 1987 Chrysler New Yorker. I am having a problem with the door lock and unlock. I can not get them to work. I have found the wire in the kick panel that shows 12 volts when you press the lock/unlock button. They are 2 seperate wires. When i hook up the alarm to them it just blows the fuse for the alarm lock/unlock wires. How am i able to make this to work. The alarm will let me do postive or negative pulsed. So please help me with this issue so i can get the car done. I am using the customers performance teknique unit. Its kinda of low grade but that is what he provided. Thanks for the help

I believe the locks are 5 wire, not pulsed(at least they are on the 1988). You need relays to make the locks work. They are ORANGE / white and pink...

To confirm, if those wires both sit on ground, lock the car, one then goes to 12V+ while the other stays on ground. Unlock and the reverse happens then you have a 5 wire system.

Here is a link to Bulldog Security for their wiring guide : http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/diagrams/extrainfo/diagrams/16256_NEW-YORKER_CHRYSLER%203-5%20WIRE%20DOOR%20LOCKS%20JBS%20UNITS.pdf

Their info suggests a 3/5 wire door lock setup : NOTE *1 This vehicle uses a 3/5 Wire Door Locking System, the LOCK wire is a TYPE A and the UNLOCK wire is a TYPE C. to connect, See DIAGRAM

As Howard points out, only testing will determine the actual type(s).  Audiovox lists it as a plain REV ( 5 wire ).

Here is Bulldogs diagram for the lock lock relay wiring :  http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/diagrams/extrainfo/diagrams/16256_NEW-YORKER_CHRYSLER%203-5%20WIRE%20DOOR%20LOCKS%20JBS%20UNITS.pdf  The top one should work with your remote start unit, if their info is correct.  ***Always test***

Soldering is fun!
