2005 chevy silverado ls crew cab diesel

Is manually wiring the locks from a Viper 5301 as simple as running wires from the Viper's Door Lock Harness, 3-pin connector (blue/green wires) to the Chevy's tan/gray wires on the 24-pin connector in the driver's door module (DDM)???

Is it possible to pick these wires up under the dash? The story as to why I need to wire direct is about 3 paragraphs that I'd just as soon avoid typing, then having debate on. Let's just keep this simple and say it's a workaround for another issue.

It is not that simple. The tan and gray wires in the drivers door are motor leg wires and are 5 wire type. The wires on your Viper are pulses designed to drive relays. Many cars have a place that you can tap into the factory relays but not yours. Your truck is controlled from the switch with data and will require either an interface module or a whole lot of relays(do a search here for DEI tech document 1601).

Some base model Silverados are simple pulse locks but because yours is a quad cab my bet is your isn't...

Mike; Why can nothing ever be easy? Ok, so I see what the relays are doing. Now, the next big questions... Can I pick up the gray/tan wires at the BCM, or do I need to put each relay in the door? If I put the relays in the door, is there a power wire I can tap into without needing to pull power from the SEO port in the fuse panel? How would you do it? Thanks much!

The tan and gray wires run between the switch on the door panel and the motor itself, so they never go outside the doors so You need to add the relays in both doors up front. The rear door you can get in the drivers fuse panel for a total of 6 relays to operate the locks.

That said, i have heard of guys disassembling the drivers door switch pod and soldering directly to the board inside to create a negative pulse lock system. I've never tried it myself but i know it's possible. I wouldn't try it unless your very comfortable with the process...
