When installing a remote start alarm in this 2008 Scion Xb, is it just straight forward or do I need some sort of bypass module for a factory immobiliser or such? Just trying to get a heads up before hand! Thanks!

Idata and xpresskit list a bypass for the 08 XB. Yes it looks like you will need a bypass.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

I think you will find the US version xB does not have an immobilizer. 2 ways to be sure, a security light flashing when the key is off and a visible coil around the key cylinder means there is.

You were right, the US Version 08 xb does NOT have the factory immobiliser circuit (one less thing to mess with). I think as an additional safety measure, its better to wire the starter cut relay to the thin wire (there are two for the starter - the thick one goes TO the starter). The thin wire prevents the car from being started/cranked over at all even if cranked at the starter, in the event of an attempted theft...

Overall I'm happy with my install on my vehicle :)
