viper 5902 remote start issues

Vehicle is a 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Diesel.
Installed the remote start/alarm and everything worked fine. Would start up no problem, etc.
Put it all back together and when I try to remote start it, it does everything it is supposed to do. But, when it turns over, it just bumps the starter and doesn't keep it engaged long enough.
Sometimes it tries to restart and sometimes it just acts like it is running and counting down.
The batteries have been disconnected for the last few days as I was doing some stereo wiring (not under the dash or anywhere near remote start wiring, etc) which is the only thing that has changed.
I'm thinking that I need to reprogram some of the settings, but I am looking for some thoughts on where to start.
I have the tach signal coming from the DLPKGM module.

did you try hardwiring the tach wire? Or temporarily switch it to voltage to see if it solves your problem.

This sounds more like a by-pass issue, try leaving the key in the ignition and see if it remote starts properly.

So, got a chance to play with it this afternoon a bit. I started by ensuring the programming for tach is correct as option 4 - tach sensing. I tried it with the key in the ignition and it didn't work. I reprogrammed the tach by starting the truck, holding down the control center button until the light glowed and then releasing it.
The turbo timer from both the momentary switch and the remote both work as they are supposed to. They will keep the truck running as they should.
Now, I get a bit longer crank, just until the engine starts to grab, then it shuts off. It tries this 3 times then the remote tells me "low tach signal".
I could hardwire the tach, but I am trying to avoid that as everything is buttoned up where it belongs. After I have tried other things I will go that route if nothing else works. The frustrating thing is it worked fine before. This is a new condition. I am wondering if it has to do with the ECM resetting since the batteries were disconnected for 3 or 4 days. Perhaps I just need to drive it for a few days then reprogram the tach so it will work.
Next steps or suggestions.

Got a chance to play with it a bit more today.
Switched over to voltage sensing and it worked fine.
I think it is the tach signal plug into the DLPKGM. The plug was broken for the wire for the tach signal from the DLPKGM to the control module. I had repaired it, but that could be the issue, especially since there is a lot of pushing and tugging when putting everything in place. It is entirely possible, that the connector broke again.
The only weird thing is that when I program the tach it acknowledges that it is programmed. Maybe it is just recognizing nothing. I don't know. Also, if I use the turbo timer it works as well. Perhaps that doesn't rely on the tach feed at all either.
Whatever the cause, it seems like it is definitely the tach signal.
If it is that plug, my 2 options will be to put in a new plug or hardwire the control module tach wire to a tach wire in the truck. Is there any problem hardwiring the tach portion if that is the cause since the rest is D2D?

Went ahead and hardwired the tach. It works now.
Last question on this, does the tach wire need to have a diode like I did on the wait to start wire?

Glad you got it sorted out.... and really nice to see someone go the extra mile to do it right and connect the tach rather than saying f' it and leaving it on voltage.

I ALWAYS hardwire the tach, I can see no reason why not, the odd vehicle (diesel) where I can't find say a camshaft position sensor or data to the instrument panel, I'll give it a 454t.
It saves so much trouble to get it right first time. ...General moan directed at no one in particular.

It's a blessing and a curse. I don't cut corners which means it takes me longer to do things and often costs me a little more. I wouldn't say I am a craftsman, but so many people cut corners and just bandaid things to "get it to run". I don't do that. Sometimes I overdo it, and take it too far, but at least anything I build is built to last.
