Where did you connect the LED negative wire?

It plugs in to a white socket. It may have been plugged into the blue valet socket.

Does it flash a continuous flash when the alarm is disarmed, or does it flash a certain number of pulses, and then repeat? It may be possible that the system doesn't have an ignition wire hooked up and the LED is blinking the diagnostic state.

I thought that Kevin but surely with alarm turned off it will only flash for 15 seconds. That apart I think you hit the nail on the head because turning ignition on and off should reset.
Maybe it's in passive arm mode with no ignition connection, but then why doesn't the alarm trigger??
I think the installation wiring needs looking at.
