04 4runner w/ audiovox as9233st

I'm considering installing the audiovox remote start alarm keyless entry upgrade system in my 2004 Toyota 4Runner. My question is about the Bypass module. Is there any bypass module that I can use to simplify the wiring?   I'm a newbie, but I *THINK* I understand that some modules on some cars can tap into the cars "network", and greatly reduce the the wiring that is needed. For my 2004 4Runner, is there any module I can buy to do this for me, or will I be required to tap into each of the inputs individually including the door lock, unlock, door open, etc sensors? Can someone help me out here? I'm a little confused. Thanks!        -Phil         Arlington, VA-Phil

unfortunately the 2004 did not utilize the CANBUS technology at the present time. the only thing available is a transponder bypass only, and the locks, door triggers, etc must be hardwired to the vehicle. This vehicle is very easy to do, so no need for expensive modules. for bypass solutions, look for the Fortin Key-override-all or the xpresskits PKALL(which is rebranded fortin) do you own a multimeter and have access to the wire diagram of the vehicle?Ted

Flashlogic is Audiovox's "branded" bypass and plugs directly together using DBI, but in your case it transfers so little data it really won't matter what bypass you use. I've installed a few AS9233ST and it will work well with your truck because it will disarm even when using the key in the door(a plus when it's remote started). This means you really won't have to carry the one button remote. You could by an AS9234 which is the same unit minus the remotes...Mike M2

I agree with Mike even though I've only installed one AS9233T so far.... The Flashlogic FLTB1 has a data cable that plugs right into the remote starter, but in your case it's only saving you three wire connections (constant, ground, ground-when-running). So the FLTB1 is nice, but like he said, KEY-OVERRIDE-ALL or PKALL works just as well. Or if your budget is really tight and you have an extra key, you could put it in a universal module like a 556U or COD-UTI, but you don't save very much money anyway.

Thanks for all of the info. I just found a SWEET deal online on the AS9234, and on the PKALL. Together, both a less than a hundred bucks!   I look forward to getting them and installing them. Regarding the digital multi-meter... yes I have one and am familiar with using it. Thank you for asking.
