Hello everybody. I'm looking at getting a 2 way Compustar alarm (not the SS model). Have any of you installed or do any of you have this alarm? How do you like it? I can get it for $275 uninstalled. Any input would be great. Thanks in advance.

I've installed numerous Compustar alarms/remote starters before and they are pretty good for the end user, but they are not very good for the installer. The CPU is HUGE !! You need quite alot of room to hide the CPU properly and the programming is confusing ( especially the remote control programming ). I would ook around first before I would spend $ 275.00 on one of these. There are alot of other companies out there that offer the exact same product for $ 100.00 less that doesn't have such a large CPU.

thank you for the reply.  what alarm would you suggest?  I have been looking at the Crimestoppers alarms as well.

also, its a 99 Ram quad cab.  where do you think is the best place in my truck to mount the CPU?  I was thinking in the lower dash, drivers side (how original)  :)  but maybe you know of a better spot.

Hey Jason; there are many systems out on the market, but everyone has their own opinions on what is considered good or bad. Crimestopper makes good alarms/starter combo and so does Ungo, Aladdin and DEI. Do some research for each one of these companies from after sales service to waranty and parts availability ( if you ever need to replace a part 5 years down the road , make sure they will still be around ). The main system that we sell at our shop is the Aladdin a-2000 and we have not had any problem with this company. Very good warranty program, awesome tech support and the whole system is integrated into one module with easy DIY instructions.

hey Jeff:  thanks for your input.  I checked out the other alarms you mentioned but decided to get the Compustar 2WFM-A.  I love the features from the remote.  that and the Compustars are marketed outta Anchorage, AK which is kinda cool (I work in Anchorage).  but anyway, thanks for the ideas.
