My cousin bought a new corolla.  They had an option of a car alarm, so they added it on.  Cost them $600 extra.  I showed my uncle my remote for the RS3 and what it does, told him that I did it for 1/3 of what he paid for.  He got sad quick.  I hate those conniving dealers. ARGH !

Aren't the newer cars just plug in modules...meaning if you would like the security/alarm as an option, it'd be like snapping your finger...  He tried to tell the dealer he changed his mind and didn't want the alarm after all and they told him "oh, it's too late, we already put it in."  Yeah right, I said, why don't you sue them...

USUALLY when they have an option like that to add on, it means they call a third party alarm company to come and install an aftermarket alarm system..I do dealership work everyday and most of the people don't know who's putting in their stuff they just assume it's the dealer putting in factory stuff..I mean if he has factory remotes then I'm sure it's a factory system but if not, might want to poke your head around..

Your brother is the idiot who said he wanted the option, and you want him to sue the dealership?? People need to take responsibility for their own actions, instead of blaming others for their poor choices.
No, they aren't just plug-in modules. The dealer calls up the local shop down the street and has them put in the alarm. Local shop charges about $250 or so. The dealer then marks up the cost to what your brother paid.

It may seem like a bit of  a rip off, but don't forget the main advantage about getting the dealer  to install your R.S. / or alarm system...............  warrenty !

Also, as an installer doing dealer work has advantages, like getting to work on virgins. They can also be handy when you run across somthing new, ie how to remove a certain panel, new systems and whatnot...

I'll bet every one here has a story about a customer coming back with a bill from their dealership saying "Your R.S./ alarm damaged this, this and that on my new car, here's the bill"
