Stock alarm goes off for no reason

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus with just the factory noise maker that came with the car. My problem is that when I lock the car with the remote it will just be sitting there and the alarm will go off. It's just lock unlock that comes with the keys. You know the one with lock/unlock/panic/trunk buttons. There isn't any shock sensors or anything like that. I have to park it in the garage unlocked other wise it will go off in the middle of the night. There are alarms out there that use the factory remotes. They tie into the car's lock wires. You should look under the dash and see if there is an alarm there. If there is the installer might not have installed it correctly and that would be the reason it is falsing. Ford had dealer installed ( not factory ) alarms made by code alarm that used a factory looking keyfob.Certified Security Specialist

Well if there is an alarm in there and you can find a valet switch or port, then try to put it into valet, this will basically turn the alarm off and leave keyless entry. If there you can't find a switch/port then I would either cut or disconnect the wires that go from the alarm to the parking lights and horn, also remove starter kill if equipped.Certified Security Specialist

I would ask you to varify that the factory door pins turn the dome light on and off without delay or hesitation, at both doors. It could be a intermittent contact, or corrosion at the connectors plugs. How long has this been happening? Does it matter if the vehicle is hot or cold? How long does it take before the alarm starts to trip? Have you inspected the voltage at the battery, let us know what it is. If you depress the key fob to panic the vehicle does it do so immediately? or is there a delay? ie. Is it longer than you recall Regards EVIL Teken . . .

I'll check the door pins to see how that are working. It's been happening for about a month. It has happened at different time of the day no matter what temp it is. It varies as to how long it takes the alarm to trip. The battery was replaced about 3months ago. The voltage checks out at 13.8 while the engine is running and 11.9 while it's not running. If you have measured the terminals correctly, based on what you have stated. 11.90 VDC at the battery terminal indicates that your battery is almost fully discharged. Meaning it is almost empty. Please have your vehicles charging system varified for proper operation via a standard AVR test. This low voltage condition would cause something like what you are experiencing to occure. Just for kicks, try aming/locking it and then remove the battery from all remotes. That will eliminate a possible sticky panic button. Just one less thing to have in the equation you know? Sometimes it's the stupidest things.....
