Hi group:

I'm looking at buying a 2004 Pontiac Vibe with the manual transmission (maybe even the 6 speed GT), and want remote start.

Does anyone know if the Vibe or Matrix has the "not in gear" sense wire?

That might make shopping for the remote start easier.

Also, what remote-starters are considered 'high end'?   Do they make an LCD type remote without a dorky 3/4 view cartoon of a car?  I would like something that looks pretty simple and 'all business'.  An outline of the profile of a car might be ok.  Plain old English text would be nice.

Regards,

Ron

Ron,
The Viper 791 VX and Clifford RS-3.5 has a pretty decent LCD for vehicle notification, without the cartoon / toy like looks.

Might want to try a Toyota specific forum if your looking for a "not in gear" wire. Those people will know more detailed specifics about a Matrix. The "not in gear" wire is common knowledge at the Subaru forum I visit.

Have confirmed that the Matrix and Vibe do not have a neutral sense wire.

Think I'm going to buy the Vibe anyway - would prefer a Matrix but (a) I get $1500 rebate on Vibe this month and (b) less chances of UAW guys sticking keys and gum to a car that says "Pontiac" as opposed to one that says "Toyota".

I seriously prefer the headlamps on the Toyota on the grounds that there are different bulbs for high and low beams - and I'd like to put an HID kit in it... easier with different bulbs.

Do any of you know if the headlamp ass'y's are interchangeable?
