I've recently purchased a ratter keyless entry and remote start,  the keyless entry is working, however, the starter only bumps over, maybe one time. I've tried to program the module for a  longer crank time, but it doesn't seem to do anything. This unit is suposed to recognize engine voltage, thus making a tach hook-up wire unnecessary.  I've tried with a tach wire, on each of the four wires at the coil, and without.  Any ideas,  HELP!!!!

Well its always difficult to troubleshoot without looking at the vehicle, but a couple ideas.  First off I don't believe the subaru has any factory anti-theft systems.  So that being said, I would go straight to the ignition harness and verify that the wires are getting what they need for the vehicle to start.  i.e. ign, accsy, etc.  Also make sure that you dont need a 2nd ign or 2nd accessory to be energized in order to start.  (i havent done a remote start on a subaru in awhile)

You are correct that you can use voltage sense on the Rattler's. Although you may want to check what the default setting is in programming options. i.e. tach or voltage.  There is also an option for voltage threshold which may need to be changed in order for the remote start to recognize the status of the vehicle's engine.

Good luck,

ps DEI's tech line is great help...if you can wait on hold for awhile to get thru

I just saved a ton on my car insurance! 99 subaru legacy remote start -- posted image.
