remote start on '99 Saturn SL1

I have a 1999 Saturn SL1 with the factory alarm system. I would like to add a remote start system that I can use with the factory remote. Does anyone know if the factory alarm has any unused accessory outputs or chanels that are not being used that I could tap into to control a remote start system? I realize I have to wire in a bypass. Thanks.

the factory wont.  its not ment to.  thats a part of the advantage to buying aftermarket ones.  if there are four buttons on the remote, then it can only do 4 functins.  usually lock, unlock, trunk pop, and panic. 

i guess if you wanted to you could take the wire to the trunk solenoid (if you have that) and find what type of trigger it is, then connect it to the remote starters activation input.  youd need a relay if the trunk was a (+) trigger.  i know DEI activation inputs use a momentary ground to trigger on that wire.  which is what a trunk pop signal is, just figure out the polarity.

but that is gay.  use the aftermarket remote to use the RS function and factory functions.  youll get better range right away.  you can keep the factory alarm system by using the factory disarm wire and the status output from the RS brain.

also, i want to let you know that DEI's techsoft has a note on adding a remote start to your vehicle when it has a factory security system...  it has a referance number to a DEI document.  i pulled out my copy of it and it looks like you have to use a relay to control the ignition and/or the factory starter relay.  its a big messy diagram.

edit:  it looks like the relay that has to be added acts as a control to activate (or enable) the factory starter relay.
