I just installed my new Clifford 3.5. As I was testing all the feature I noticed that my car would start with the alarm armed. The alarm would go off and tell me that the ignition zone has been triggered but it let the car start. The alarm still has the orange wire like the older DEI products. I heard that this alarm has a built in starter kill relay in the remote start relay pack. Is this not true? I followed the steps for the purple and green heavy gauge wire but it still starts with the key when the alarm is going off. Is there something I've done wrong?

We if the orange wire is like an anti-grind wire then that maigh also be a starter kill.

edit: found the page saying you need a starter kill relay. it has a built in realy for the anti grind but you still have to wire up a relay for the kill

did u cut the starter wire in two???
if not then you dont have the starter disable hooked up.
double check the manual for the proper hook up...

the starter kill functions throught the purple and green heavry gauge wires.  if you only use the purple starter wire then the car will crank when armed.  the green wire that is supposed to go to the key cyl. side of the cut starter wire,  wont let the car crank when the unit is armed.

I hooked up the purple to starter side, and then green to key side. But it still allows my car to start when the alarm is armed.

if you have an anti grind or start defeat wire here is how it would go provided you have a postive ignition wire

86: anti/starter wire

87a: switch side of starter wire

85: ignition wire

30: other side fo the stater wire

Now none of this will work if the starter wire is NOT cut

here is a diagram for you http://www.lupo.net.nz/_uploads//disable.gif

highly likely that you didn't manage to find true ignition. the yellow wire from your alarm that you should have already connected to ignition....check if it still reads +12v while cranking your starter. if it doesn't, find the wire in your ignition harness that does, and connect your yellow wire to that.
good luck

Hmm maybe they changed the wires up on this alarm. Let me go back and look at the install manual. I'm surprised Danny boy has jumped on this post. He seems to have a good time fixing my mistakes.

Either that is not the correct way to hook up this alarm, or my alarm brain is bad. Maybe I should just wire up a relay for the start kill.
