Hi, I'm new to the site and I aplogize if this has already been discussed.  I tried searching on this, but didn't find anything relating directly to the 2002 Stratus.

Basically, I have a 2002 Stratus without the factory keyless entry and wish to add an alarm with keyless entry and remote start.     I know my car has the transponder immobilizer system, and I know (from reading this site) that there are bypass kits that use a spare key to bypass this security feature.   Well I don't feel real good about wiring up a spare key and hiding it somewhere in the car.  Kinda defeats the purpose of having an alarm doesn't it?

My question is this....   Is there a KEYLESS bypass available for the 2002 Stratus or some sort of installers trick to get arount the transponder system without hiding the spare key inside the vehicle.

Thanks in advance...   : )

There is no KEYLESS version of the bypass modulse for your car, yet. What I've done in the past is take the spare key and break off the key portion of the key and wrap the transponder wire around just the head of the key where the transponder chip is any way. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Remote start on 2002 Stratus with transponder key -- posted image.  This is what I was afraid of...

So does the bypass kit only come into play when using the remote start or is it always in effect which would then allow regular copies of my keys to start my car?

Depends on how you wire it.

I wired mine, with a relay that kicks in my bypass key, only when the remote starter puts +12 out it's ACC wire, I did not connect my acc wire to the car, as I didn't care if the radio dosen't work - untill I turn the key, this way I dont have to worry about +12 backfeeding to the relay.

My Alarm brain, an Impulse 4040 only had a pulsed "-" bypass output, so hooking it up that way didn't work.

My AC/Heater runs off IGN#1 so that all works peachy.

I've read that some brains, only power up the ACC circuit after starting has been acomplished, If thats the case with yours, you may be able to tap one of the other wires, and use a big diode., Or do it as perscribed , with a constant "-" out from your brain.

if you wire it permanent then You can use any copied keys, and you loose the extra security.

You can do what JT says as well there is a transponder designated wire on most newer RS systems that will engage the transponder module only when remote started.

well there is a DEI 555C for the 2002 stratus sedan wich i believe is a keyless module. If you have the coupe then the only other choice with a module will be a 555U wich will use one extra key.Do you have a sedan or coupe??
