Problem with remote start viper 790xv. The engine start an stop after few second.

If the threshold jumper stay at OF, the unit dont learn the tach signal. (the led dosn't light below the learning process).

If the tach threshold jumper stay at ON, I think the unit learn the tach signal because the led light at the learning. After that I tray the remote start and det engine run, but after a few second it stop.

At the tach wire I have 2 V AC.

What is wrong

Run the engine with the key for a few minutes. Check your tach wire and see if it still stays at 2 volts. If the votage begins to flutuate when the engines become warm you need to find another tach wire. That's one of my experience which I have came upon.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. Remote start tach problem -- posted image.

I think on the DEI alarms after the tach is learned you have to change it back to the "off" position. But hey, I could be wrong. I just thought I read that in a manual that I have in my tool box.

The new units have been having this problem try voltage sensing or maybe try a different tach source such as an injector!

Yea I use voltage on installs when I can't find the tach wire or something. I really don't see a problem with voltage sensing. Some of the installers I've worked with said that voltage is unreliable, but I have yet to see a voltage remote start fail.

supposedly, voltage sensing is unreliable when it gets VERY cold, and I have seen evidence of that, but the repercussion is only that it tries to start and doesn't.
