2001 330i for an alarm.  checked out directfax document 1055.  No problem.  BUT!  When you disconnect the ribbon cable wire to get the parking lights to come on, it sets off the motors for the auto leveling headlamps.  so if the alarm gets set off it will run the motor continuously for the duration.  Not a good thing.  Called DEI tech support and they had never heard of it before.

Any suggestions??

Rob

Yeah man.  I double and triple checked everything.  Even when you use the switch they auto level themselves.  I called BMW but we all know how much help they are when you need information.  Pulled the ribbon cable out after removing the switch face assembly.  Counted 4 wires over from the left.  Tested wire.  Cut wire, parking lights came on and then the headlamps level themselves out.  I've never run into a problem like this either.  That's why I turned here for help.

andy help would be appreciated.

You're only cutting the one wire in the cable, right ?

Try getting your parklights else where.... at the lights themselves ?

or disable the parklight output with a relay, when alarming...

Never heard of the problem you are decsribing.

It poweres the motor, when everything else is at rest ,and just the parklight wire is opened ?

Yes only one wire was cut.  I've already started the 5 wire at the lights themselves.  Guess it's the only way out.

Thanks for the help, anything else you come across, let me know!
