I have a 1996 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Pick-Up.  I would like to know how to disable the alarm on it.  It is the factory alarm and hasnt been modified before.  If its possible, i'd like to keep the keyless entry, but if that needs to be disabled too, I can survive.  I just don't want the alarm anymore.  What wires do I need to cut/detatch/move/etc. or what fuses do I need to remove or what part do I have to hit with a hammer (just kidding) to disable the alarm (and keep the keyless? *crosses fingers*).

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!!

Well, I THOUGHT it was factory then.  The truck was given to me by my dad and I thought the alarm came with it.  If it isn't, then how do I find out who made it?  The remote/key-chain is unlabelled, but it used to have a small sticker on it.  I'm PRETTY SURE that the sticker was just a GM logo (which is what led me to believe it was factory).  Does GM make alarms that aren't factory?

THANKS!

Look on the back of the remote control and see if there is any marking onthere with a serial number.

most of the time a stock alarm system can be disabbled by the user...try looking up alarm or security system in the owners manual...they usually give instructions on how to disable.
