Hi,

I'm installing an alarm system on my '86 Ferrari Testarossa. I have completed about 90% of all the work with the help of the wiring diagrams for the car. Now I ran into a problem. The car comes with the door actuators but I have no clue how to hook that up.

Does anyone here ever done this on a Ferrari or knows or has the schematic/parts list how to complete this task? I really want to lock and unlock the doors when I arm/disarm the alarm with the remote. I got the alarm purposely for this task.

The 1987 Testarossa requires an actuator to complete the lock & unlock functions. When you lock the doors via the locking mechanism from the inside of the car, does it do both passenger and driver side ? If so, then you have to add an actuator to the driver's door.

To answer your questions Jeff, yes...there is no unlock/lock switch inside the car, but both doors work as one when you lock or unlock with the key from the outside that is. I thought that actuators are in the doors in order to do that? do I have to put a second actuator in the door??? Confirming an actuator you are talking about is that "electromagnet" ????? right? Where do I buy this thing and do you know which wires that will slice in?

What you will need to do is attach an actuator to the door lock mechanism of the car and wire it like this diagram: http://www.velocitymotorsport.com/images/install_notes/104. jpg The Ferrari has a central door locking system that works off the physical movement of the cylinder to accomplish the lock and unlock functions of the car. You can buy thse actuators at any car alarm/audio shop that does installation. They are very cheap to buy, about $ 10.00 - $ 15.00 at most places. Some more than others, but shop around if you wish. If you want to purcahse one email me and i'll send you one.

you wont be slicing in to any wires. You will be adding a device that is grabs the push rod ( the plunger you activate the doors with) and moves it, simulating you manualy flipping the plunger.
