97 Achieva Starter Wiring

I have a '97 Olds. Achieva that I was removing the starter from. I have a single "red" wire that broke but not certain where it goes. There are 2 post this wire is on the same post as the cable from the battery. Where does the other end go? Altenator? if so Where?

need more info about the red wire check the red wire for voltage but need more info

Do not have a way to check for voltage. When the battery is connected and the wire is touched to metal it does spark. When this wire was connected it came from the passenger side of the car, but I could not see the other end, that is until it broke off. LOL
