Hello y'all,

I am doing a remote start/alarm installation.

There are mutlitple sources that indicate a "(dark) Green / Violet (purple)" wire, found near the driver-side kick panel/left door jamb, is the one to tap for disarming factory security on 1997-2002 Expedition/Navigator/F-150.  This is a negative trigger.

My 2002 Navigator is well equipped and I don't believe there is an "alarm" installed.  There is PATS and a Central Security Module (controls door locks, keypad entry, keyless entry, etc.).

At the driver-side kick panel/left door jamb, the wire bundle comes from the driver's door, part of the bundle goes through the firewall to (what I believe) is the power distribution/fuse/relay panel and part goes to the CSM.  The GREEN/ violet wire can be seen coming fromt the door and goes through the firewall.

I have seen the wiring diagrams for the CSM, GEM (generic electronic module), door locks, windows, and found no reference to this wire.

I plan to tap it and observe its behavior when locked/unlocked, though I think if I connect the other wires designated for locking and unlocking, I won't need to worry about this wire in question.

Any information would be great!

Thanks,

JAMES.

You will most likely have to connect that wire or the alarm will go off when you enter the vehicle. I think you are correct to observe the wires behavior when you unlock it using the factory remotes.

Even better, use the key in the driver's door turned to the UL pos. to see it in action.
