I am trying to hook an Omega basic keyless entry to this vehicle.  For some reason I continue to blow the fuse when I attempt to lock or unlock the doors.

I have the relays wired as follows;  lock relay - 85/87 (12v+), 86 neg lock output, 30 to positive lock wire

unlock relay - 86/87 (12v+), 85 neg unlock output, 30 positive unlock wire

Am I missing something??? If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Charlie

Jeff,

The crown vic did not come with keyless entry.  My Police Department wants to put them on all of the vehicles and asked me to do it.  I have done it on earlier models w/ no problem.

Jeff,

I changed the wiring to a 5 wire system.  Now this is what I have:

Unlock 85,87 +12v, 86 - to alarm output, 87a to switch, 30 to motor

Lock 86,87 +12v, 85  - to alarm output, 87a to switch, 30 to motor

Now the unlock works fine.  However, I keep blowing fuses when I try to lock the door.  I tried to set the lock up the same as the unlock, but it does the same thing.

Any ideas???

Thanks

Thanks for the help,,,I wired both relays identically and it works fine.

I appreciate your help greatly.  Now I will just duplicate this several times over.  Then comes the real fun,,,remote start.
